Prospect House

Prospect House
This project combined the conversion of office spaces into residential units with the construction of new homes, resulting in a joint venture with equity investors that delivered 11 apartments, 2 cottages, 2 semi-detached houses, and 1 townhouse.
At its heart was the meticulous transformation of the Grade II listed former Council Chambers into 10 luxurious apartments, including a striking duplex and 3 contemporary new-build residences. The original gatehouse of Hexham Castle was also carefully restored and converted into a stunning three-story, three-bedroom townhouse.
Every aspect of the project was guided by a commitment to preserving the historical significance of the buildings. Key restoration efforts included the repair of ornate staircases with bespoke spindles, the careful cleaning and refurbishment of stained-glass windows, and the revival of parquet flooring in the communal entrance. Original cornicing was meticulously repaired using custom molds to ensure authenticity, while historically significant wallpaper was preserved in accordance with conservation guidelines. Even the bricks for the new build section were handmade to blend seamlessly with the existing structure. Close collaboration with local authority planners and heritage consultants ensured the integrity of the site was maintained, balancing historical preservation with modern luxury.
